LeaseUp’s CSV import lets you quickly turn raw market data into a digital deliverable ready to be shared with team members or clients.
To get the best results and avoid import errors, we’ve put together some tips for how to format your CSV for seamless import, and troubleshoot common issues. Each tip includes a link to a more detailed article about each topic.
Remove empty rows and columns before import
Remove all empty rows from your CSV, and any rows that do not contain property data. Leaving empty columns will create a blank field in every space or building. Remove all empty or unwanted columns. Columns with no cell values are not imported, even if a column header exists.
Match LeaseUp’s default fields before import
LeaseUp uses a set of default fields for buildings and spaces that may be matched to columns in your CSV, or auto-matched if you use the following column headers in your CSV. Building fields include floors, property type, building size, parking ratio, and amenities. Space fields include SqFt available, price / SqFt, date available, lease term, lease type, space name, and space notes.
Format addresses before import
There are a number of ways to format addresses in a CSV before import. The best address formats are:
Full address (including street, city, state, and zip code) in a single column
Full address (including street, city, state, and zip code) in multiple columns
Street, city, and zip code columns
Order CSV columns before import
If you want survey or tour book fields to display in a specific order, you can set the order ahead of time in the CSV. Place the address columns first, followed by building columns, followed by space columns. This will make the import process easier and ensure the fields you’re importing will display in the correct order on LeaseUp.
Note: LeaseUp’s default building and space fields will always be ordered first.
Fix a problem with a Google Maps address
LeaseUp uses Google Maps search to find addresses, so providing as many parts of the address as possible will lead to the most accurate results. If you find a problematic address during import, search for it on Google Maps and copy the address they provide.
If you search for the address on Google Maps and the data is incorrect you may also submit a change request to Google by following their instructions.
Import address info for a building that doesn’t yet have a street address
If some of the addresses you are importing do not exist because they are under development, use a street name with no street number or the closest street name to the location you can find. After the properties are imported you can use our custom location feature to re-label the address and position the map pin correctly.
Import multiple spaces at one address
Repeat an address on a new row to create additional spaces (suites, availabilities, vacancies, etc). Enter space-specific column values where appropriate, and duplicate or leave blank redundant building-specific column values.
